Beauty with a Purpose...

KENYA - 2010 BWP Winner

Kenya's Natasha Metto was announced as the winner of the 2010 Beauty with a Purpose Award. The announcement was made prior to the 60th Miss World Final in Sanya, China. She won for her outstanding work in trying to combat the jigger worm epidemic in Kenya. Working together with Cecilia Mwangi (Kenya 2005), Natasha has volunteered her time to educate people about the blood-sucking worm, which burrows under the skin of the foot causing irritation and damage. By visiting areas where the problem is most prevalent, Natasha has raised awareness of the necessary precautions to avoid the worm, as well as offering treatment to those affected.
