The official launch for this year's Malaysia competition took place in Kuala Lumpur, with Miss World Alexandria Mills, Miss World Africa Emma Wareus, and Chairman of Miss World Organisation Julia Morley were in attendance. Joining them were 2009's Malaysia representative Thanuja Ananthan, and India's Manasvi Mamgai, reuniting with Alexandria and Emma for the first time since the Miss World 2010 Final.
The event was also marked by the presentation of a cheque for 150,000 RM to launch the "1 Million Sewing Machines for India", as part of the "Hope For Children" program. Launched in August 2009 by Paul Ting, the "Hope for Children" charity project has set a target to raise at least $10 million over the next 5 years to help improve the lives of needy and underprivileged children around the world.
