| Miss Wales & The Joshua Foundation Since 2003, the Miss Wales pageant has raised more than £400,000 for children’s charities. For the last five years we have promoted Beauty With A Purpose as our main priority and the event has become synonymous with fundraising and helping young women make a difference. Our adopted charity has been The Joshua Foundation, a Cardiff based charity which provides experiences for children who are terminally ill with cancer. Examples of the sorts of wonderful events that the Miss Wales contestants help fund include trips to Lapland for the children and their families to meet the real Father Christmas; Halloween parties where the kids can celebrate the spookiest night of the calendar in style; pamper evenings where little girls enjoy being treated like princesses as well as special days out to major tourist attractions like Longleat and big events such as West Ends shows. Sarah Cornelius-Price, president of The Joshua Foundation, said: “Miss Wales is one of The Joshua Foundation’s most treasured and successful fundraisers. Since 2007, the girls have made many life-changing experiences happen. We are so proud to be supported by such talented and inspirational people.” Little girls from The Joshua Foundation are also VIP guests at the Miss Wales final every year and play a special role as flower girls during the crowning ceremony. |
